The day began dark and overcast and hit us with a little bit of rain midday but we have noted hives are beginning to chew a lot of stores in the brood nest so we ran a quick inspection of one site with 26 hives.

Inspecting Bees

Upon closer inspection  we reveal an abundance of worker bees, the drones already thrown from the colonies and brood rearing at its lowest if anything. The nights are drawing in and temperatures dropping, the bees are closing down for the winter.

All colonies were very happy, very little forage around for them sadly. Low mite population continues ensuring their strength for the winter.

Now these colonies have finished their treatment process for the Autumn we are beginning to feed in preparation for the winter to build up stores.
